Our Approach

Our approach is to provide a shining beacon in their community that children will want to be part of. It has to be cool. Engaging with children is the first step and probably the most difficult. After this maintaining interest whilst providing the help they need is paramount.
There will be elements that will not want us there and we shall need to plan for them with the community and police. Children will watch and see if we walk the talk after all they are the ones taking the first step and some might be at personal risk. Ranger Stations are designed for engagement and appeal to the children. They will be exciting places to visit with different things going. The core will be around two floodlit 5 a side football pitches. Food and drinks will be provided, and celebrities will pop in to make it cool. Sport instils great values of discipline and self-development. Using the Ranger Stations as a base we shall marshal the resources from other organisations into our programmes designed to provide a sense of self-worth and belonging in their communities.
Behind this coolness there is the more serious side of demonstrating and living by our values through example and role models which our Chief Rangers will lead.

Our values are
Courage – learn to fight your fears and to take action
Discipline –learn to never give up and work hard to achieve your objectives.
Selfless – be kind and help others.
Wisdom – develop the knowledge to move forward and take action

Our Chief Rangers will be special people that can impart these values. We shall of course need to involve the whole community and much work happens before a Ranger Station is opened. We prepare an engagement plan on what needs to be done and how. Only if the community is committed to really help children and not just lip service and sign up to our Charter then we set up the Ranger Station with all the support and activities.

Our Community Charter

1. To support our Primary Task to the best of their abilities and capabilities.
2. To work and live by our values of Wisdom, Courage,
Selfless and Discipline based on the stoic values.
3. The emphasis is on getting it done, NOW.
4.To continuously evolve as the needs of children change.
5. To be honest and say it as it is.
We are one team and each child matters

The steps we take to set up a Ranger Station

1. Involve local businesses to contribute either resources, financial means, apprenticeships, staff involvement or in house training courses.
2. Involve Local Authorities to get involved and provide resources such as sites and their excellent social service resources as well as mobilising government support.
3. Involve the Police. Ranger stations must be safe, and we insist CCTV coverage within a 1-mile radius of the Ranger Station and for the Police to commit to investigate vigorously any violence within a 2-mile radius of the Ranger Station.
4. Involve local sports clubs such as Premier League Football clubs to help as role models.
5. Involve the armed services personnel as volunteers to conduct exciting training exercises. This will be cool.

The community will create their own action plan for their Ranger Station.
Progress will be covered on our web site and we will shine a spotlight where the obstacles and bottlenecks are and outline where help and resources are needed. Our approach is on getting it done and we believe our honest and direct approach will be welcomed by those that really want to help. After all our children’s futures and sometimes their lives are at stake. We all know this.
Our approach is to have a high execution capability to ensure we can make it happen fast and efficiently. Our emphasis is on the NOW.

The power of mums and dads will also be harnessed through tailored Ranger programmes for them. They will focus on self-help teams and events to reinforce a community spirit and values. All too often there is a lot of help available from local authorities and other charities, but it remains unknown and untapped. That is the role of the Ranger Station to marshall this help and work with anyone in meeting our Primary Task.
